Grammy®-winning guitar trio The String Revolution is one of today’s most innovative and genre-defying instrumental groups. Formed in Los Angeles by guitarists Janet Robin, Markus Illko, and Rober Luis, the trio shares a mission to push the acoustic guitar beyond traditional boundaries. Each member brings a distinct background and voice to the group. Janet Robin is a guitarist and producer with a decades-long career as a performer, songwriter, and collaborator. She has toured and recorded with artists including Lindsey Buckingham, Air Supply, and Meredith Brooks, among many others, earning a reputation as a highly sought-after studio and touring guitarist. Her playing is known for its melodic clarity, emotional depth, and dynamic range, serving as a central melodic voice in the trio. Markus Illko, originally from Austria, is a guitarist and composer with a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar. His background spans classical training, rock influences, and contemporary instrumental music. Known for his precision and cinematic arranging style, he contributes a rich harmonic and textural depth that helps define the group’s modern, widescreen sound.

Rober Luis studied music in Havana, Cuba, where he developed a strong foundation in Latin rhythms and Afro-Cuban traditions. His style blends Latin, blues, and world influences with percussive guitar techniques, adding groove, momentum, and rhythmic drive that anchors the trio’s sound.

Since its formation, The String Revolution has gained international recognition for its inventive arrangements, rich textures, and dynamic live performances. Their music combines intricate fingerstyle guitar, blues-driven solos, cinematic soundscapes, and powerful interplay that often feels orchestral in scope.
